Welcome Message
It is a great honour to welcome you at the 3rd International Consultation on Sexual Medicine (3rd ICSM). The 3rd International Consultation on Sexual Medicine is being organized under the auspices of the International Consultation on Urological Diseases (ICUD) and the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM). The 3rd ICSM will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France, from 10 to 13 July 2009.
The 1st Consultation held in Paris in 1999 was a truly historical event in the history of sexual medicine. More than 120 world experts were assigned to 18 committees which assembled the most extensive and up-to-date information in the field. The resulting publication was a major contribution and a welcome reference for researchers, physicians and patients. The success of the 1st Consultation generated great interest in both basic and clinical research in male and female sexual dysfunction.
The 2nd Consultation in 2003 was an equally exciting and significant event. Again over 100 world experts were assigned to committees which again assembled the most current information in the field of sexual medicine. The committees’ work contributed much to an updated understanding of the basic mechanisms of sexual function and improved care of patients with sexual dysfunction. The resulting book was again the most important reference in sexual medicine at that time.
For the 3rd Consultation, the ICSM Scientific Committee has carefully organized 125 internationally recognized invited experts into 25 committees. These experts have already started working within their own committees, each committee preparing a chapter that will be presented at the 3rd ICSM and that will be published in the 3rd ICSM book of proceedings.
